Arnica Montana 30x Dosage Before Mommy Makeover?

Question

Hello I am getting a mommy makeover in ten days. My surgeon advised me to take arnica two weeks prior. I purchased arnica montana 30x. On the bottle it states that I should take four tablets a day. I have been however I'm not sure if that is the correct dosage. I have been getting a worried feeling lately and I'm not sure if its my nerves or the arnica. Is 4 tablets a day safe for two weeks before and after surgery?

Hello! Thank you for your question! The recommendations for the use of these homeopathic medications are surgeon preference. I typically suggest the use of Arnica Montana to decrease swelling and bruising. It is an herbal medication that is propagated from the seeds of an herb. I, as well as my patients, have seen some benefit with the treatment in the postoperative period. Although there is little evidence to its effectiveness, I believe there is some benefit, and no harm. I recommend 4-5 tablets under the tongue 4x/day for 3-5 days prior and 5-7 days after the procedure. Hope that this helps! Best wishes!

It can help decrease inflammation, swelling and pain that often accompany a surgical procedure.Arnica Montana has been  touted as causing decreased  bruising, swelling and pain associated with surgery or soft tissue injury.  with our homeopathic Arnica Montana. Many surgeons have their patients take on the prior to surgery to decrease bruising. There is no evidence to support this scientifically.

This question is best answered by your surgeon.  It is important that she/he is aware of the medications including prescription, over the counter, and supplements that you are taking prior to surgery.  Arnica is often recommended as it is helpful in managing bruising.  Your surgeon will advise of the recommended dose for you.

Arnica 30x is a homeopathic dosage, this is a very low dose. For better effects from arnica to decrease post operative bruising and swelling you may want to try a product like Sineech. It is available from Alpine Pharmacy on line. Please check with your plastic surgeon before trying this product.
