Would I need arm lipo or an arm lift? (Photo)

Question

Im not sure if I have lipedema of my upper arms, but ive always stored fat in upper arms, even when skinner. This is the heaviest ive ever been, so wondering if this looks like weight loss would help or am i a candidate for surgery? If so, what kind of surgery? I hate how big upper arms appear and hide them all the time.

Your skin does not appear to be very lax, in my experience, Vaser ultrasound liposuction of the arms will remove stubborn areas and tighten skin without an arm lift.

This is a much easier surgery and recovery, also avoids the long scars.

An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.

This diagnosis for arms is dubious, and the criteria for the lipedema diagnosis in general is questionable. That fact and the fact that lipedema and normal excess fat have the same treatment protocol make your question moot. The real issue is skin elasticity in your arms and whether liposuction alone will give you a result that will make you happy. Photos alone can't answer that question, but undergoing liposuction without skin resection (the arm lift part) is a perfectly reasonable option for you; it is possible you would not any further treatment.

You have hanging skin so you need an arm lift. At the time of an arm lift, liposuction is usually done. This allows easier dissection and separates the skin from the underlying tissue, which makes the procedure less bloody.

It is impossible to give you good advice based on this single photo, unfortunately. In person evaluation is needed to see whether liposuction alone or combined with skin excision would be appropriate option. Weight loss as well. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is recommended. Good luck.
