Question

I had my rhinoplasty done 15 years ago, and now I am experiencing redness and swelling for the past 2 weeks. After taking steroids and antibiotics, it calmed down, but now it is swelling again. I have a feeling maybe my body is rejecting the implant. I am hoping I have time to find a good doctor for the revision. Any suggestions in the meantime? Should I go for a 2nd round of steroids ? As far as I can understand from your question You need an consultation with an experienced Otolaryngologist (ENT) or Plastic Surgeon specializing in Revision Rhinoplasty. will perform a physical exam and may order imaging (like a CT scan) or laboratory tests to determine the precise cause of the recurring inflammation and swelling. Do not delay seeking professional medical attention.
It would be better face to face consultation.

Never ever a synthetic implant should be used in a nose, a basic Google research about their disastrous complications may tell a lot.

You need asap and urgently prosthetic removal, to prevent the impending sking necrosis and piercing.

Hello and thank you for your question. I presume you have a silicone implant that has been infected. This should be removed during a revision surgery. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

If you have an implant on the bridge of your nose, these may become infected in anybody over a lifetime, perhaps 5% of the times, if it is a foreign body like gore-Tex or silicone. In our experience, if it is flaring up after the antibiotics stop, you may need to have this removed.
