I had breast augmentation and areola reduction 11 months ago. My areolas have grown back to the same size I've started with and my scars are also very white and it is obvious that my areolas have been pasted back on and that there is a scar around them. I am still using very expensive silicone scar tape made for areolas and scar gel but the scars still are so white! I would like to undergo another areola reduction but I'm scared of them growing again and having more, deeper scars than before.
Answer: Why are my areola reduction scars so noticeable after a year? Can I get another areola reduction? Hello @sophc918, thank you for your question. The scars still are in the process of healing and they may become less noticeable over time. Is important to remember that the healing if the scar depends is inherent to the patients post operative care, genetics, and daily movements of the patient. I share a video about scar healing process to shed more light. For more information and recommendations, it is prudent to consult with one or several board certified plastic surgeons. Best wishes! Answer: Areolar scars You have two options: the first is to revise your surgery to include a vertical limb to reduce the size of your areola. The second is to use topical scar treatments such as Sequel Scar Defense and Sequel Dark Scar Corrector followed by fractional laser. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Scars Dear sophc918, I understand you are concerned with the appearance of your scars. As your scars heal, it should flatten out and lighten. Loss of pigmentation or hyperpigmentation may also be experienced but will resolve over time. Always follow your surgeon's post operative care instructions when it comes to scar management to avoid any complications like infection and for faster healing and recovery. Answer: Areola reduction The areola tissue has likely restretched due to the pressure from the implants. You can elect to have them reduced again, which would also revise your scars, but there is a chance that you will end up with a similar result. Scar creams and silicone sheeting can help with the appearance of scars but they will not prevent the areola from stretching.

Answer: Breasts With the large size of your implants, there is lot of weight on your breasts and your areolae will probably stretch again. Permanent sutures would need to be used.
