Are my saggy breasts genetic or caused by something else? (photos)

Thank you for your question.  Though there are factors that a patient can control to help prevent breast sagging, such as using supportive bras and avoiding sun damage, much of breast ptosis is dependent on a person's genetics.  Genetics plays a role in breast size, breast development speed, skin elasticity, and collagen support, all of which are key factors in maintaining breast appearance and health.  Speak with a board certified plastic surgeon who can discuss treatment options with you that combat early signs of sagging.

Sagging of the breasts occurs for many reasons, and genetics certainly plays a part. Weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and aging also influence it.

Thank you for the question.  It sounds like there is a genetic source of your breast shape.  It is not uncommon to have larger areolas and some ptosis (sagging) with larger breasts and there is in general a range of what is considered normal for both.  If the appearance of your breasts continue to bother you as you mature you may want to have a plastic surgeon consult with you to determine what your options for breast shaping are.All the best,Dr. Remus Repta

This is most likely genetic in nature. Thank your parents for this one. There are surgical options depending on the degree of ptosis and the quality of the skin. 

Everyone develops differently and, sometimes, skin stretches differently from person to person.  With just the diagram to go on it's possible that this is just due to your size.  There are some 'genetic' issues that could fall into the description you give but to answer them involves you sending or posting photographs.

As you have already figured out, genetics play a huge role in the shape and size of our body parts.  Just like you can inherit a large nose or the tendency towards heart disease, you also inherit your predetermined size and shape of your breasts.  While weight gain and pregnancy are variables  that affect your breasts, (as well as smoking and sun damage) genetics are the single largest determining factor.  It it seems you are not only describing a droopy breast but a tuberous one. Regardless, there are surgical interventions available to help change the shape as well as size of your breast. Once you feel your body has stopped changing you can seek the input of a plastic surgeon.  For some women this happens at 14 or 15 others later but most are done by 18.  If you want to speak with someone before your 18th birthday, just to get information , take a parent or guardian with you.  It's actually quite surprising just how different women's breasts are from one another.  I hope oped this helps!
