6 weeks post op, noticeable asymmetry. Will it ever go away? (photos)

Thank you for your question.  It is normal to still have some asymmetry at this point, as you implants are still settling and swelling is going down.  I agree that you need to wait until at least the 3 month mark before proceeding with trying to correct it. A lot of times these things will work out on their own and sometimes another surgery to correct something that is minimal can cause more harm then good.  I would suggest at this point to be patient and wait until at least the 3 month mark you can re-discuss your options with your doctor at that point if you are still concerned.  It is also good to remember the breasts are like sisters, not twins, most women will have some asymmetry before their breast augmentation as well. If you would like more information regarding breast augmentation and the recovery process you can download a free copy of my breast augmentation planner at ABetterBreast.com. 

Hello! Thank you for your question! You are still early post-procedure. Your appearance looks typical at this stage and will continue to improve as the swelling subsides and the implants continue to settle into their desired position. Due to this and swelling, it may appear that one is larger. This usually proceeds over the next several weeks as the lower pole skin/breast stretches to accommodate the implants. Follow-up closely with your surgeon for additional restrictions/instructions and the potential use of bras/garments or massage that may encourage the implant to settle appropriately. If still displaced after this time, a surgical procedure may be necessary to further open the pocket and bring the implant(s) down. Hope that this helps! Best wishes!

Thank you for your question and photos. At this point it is just to early to know what the final results will look like. As you have already noticed the implants will tend to sit higher on the chest early after surgery, especially, when they are placed under the muscle. I recommend you follow your surgeons advice and try to be patient as your implants settle into position. If after 6 months it has not dropped it can be revised. Rest assured a high implant is always easier to correct than one that is too low.Best Regards,Dr. Stutman

It appears you have a capsule contracture on the R side.   Best to live with it and see if it will self correct.  Breast bands can help.    If still there at 6 to 9 months surgery may be a best answer,     My Best,  Dr C
