My nose has a bump on it and I'm pretty sure it's bone and I was wondering if it could be filed down or removed? (photos)

Yes, you do have a hump on the nose that is due to bone and cartilage. You also have several other issues with the nose. Just removing the hump will not leave you with a good result. A rhinoplasty procedure that would also treat your droopy ill-supported tip would also be required to bring the nose into balance. Sixteen is young, but if you have stopped growing over the last year or two I do not think you are too young for the procedure.

The bump you show is made of cartilage and bone. In rhinoplasty surgery these can be shaved down to produce a better profile. Every nose is different, so techniques can vary depending on special needs. That way we can preserve both nasal breathing and get the best cosmetic result.

Yes it is possible to do this or more. Best to see in person doctor for complete evaluation to determine what is needed.. 

HiI saw your post, your question and your pictures.  Your pictures show the bump that it obvious but closer evaluation based on these small pictures reveals a low nasal starting point and a ptotic tip.  If you just take down the bump your nose will look too low and flat and droopy.  You require removal of a large portion of the bump but not all of it.  The tip needs to be supported and elevated and your nasal starting point or Radix needs to be built up and these three maneuvers together can give you a straighter bridge.  Find a specialist surgeon and be examined in person. 

The bump you describe is most likley a combination of bone and cartilage.. Being that you are 16 I would wait at least a year or maybe two before having anything done because you may still be growing. If you are going to consider having a rhinoplasty, then you will need your parents' permission until you are 18.

lamawesome, first of all the problem you have with you nose is something that rhinoplasty can easily fix.  For males however I request that they be between 17-18 years of age at the youngest.  As to the approach that I would use, I would use a closed approach.  I recommend he see several facial plastic specialists preferably with over 10 years experience.  Make sure he like they're photos before he visit.  I hope this helps, good luck!

This represents both nasal bones and septal cartilage. Presuming no other changes are desired, this could be achieved in a straightforward manner with a closed rhinoplasty.
