Hello, I know I will be bruised, swollen, sore, and not so hot after Liposuction and a breast lift but I would like to enjoy a couple hours on the beach with my family. As long as I apply sunscreen and cover up lipo areas, do you think I'll be ok to enjoy the beach? I will definitely follow my surgeons instructions but I would like the opinion of other professionals.
Answer: Going to beach 5 days after liposuction I would recommend contacting your surgeon and letting him or her know. Then, he or she can decide whether or not they feel it will be safe. Best of luck!

Answer: Post Liposuction Swelling -- Lymphatic Massage, Hyperbaric Oxygen, Radiofrequency (Venus Legacy, Exilis, Vanquish), Cellutone we limit that type of activity for 2-3 weeks as you will be very swollen and healing and risk seroma and hematoma that soon after surgery. please follow the appropriate massage and RF treatments at this point. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Beach after surgery 5 days may be pushing it a little, but it's probably OK if you are VERY careful. I would recommend not only sunscreen, but a beach umbrella so that you are in the shade and don't perspire too much. Sand can irritate your incisions, so use a beach chair so that you can remain clean. I hope you have a good time!

Answer: Beach Safety after Liposuction? Hello 'Sweetfree', thanks for your question. I personally would not recommend my patients to go to the beach that soon after surgery. As careful as you may be, there is a lot of sand and germs flying around at the beach, and the sea water is even worse. There would be a high risk of infection if any portion of your wounds get exposed to the beach elements. Further, the excess sun and heat exposure that is typical at the beach can worsen your swelling and lead to hypertrophic scarring from the harmful UV rays. All the activity of carrying various supplies to the beach is also harmful to your healing wounds. Thus, I would not recommend going to the beach until your wounds have healed and you are past the initial recovery period. Please give my office a call for a consultation if you would like to discuss further. Good luck!-Dr.Go

Answer: Activity after breast lift and liposuction Hi there,Obviously if you've already selected your surgeon you should inquire directly with him/her and ask the same question but as a general rule of thumb for my patients, I do not like them to engage in unnecessary recreational or exertional activities for the first 3 weeks after surgery. If you are just sitting at the beach, don't get water or sand on your incisions, and don't have sun exposure, it's reasonable to sit idly but if you are tempted to swim, play with kids, etc., I'd advise against it.
