Is there any way to reduce the size of my chubby round upper cheeks? Liposuction, surgical options? Face contouring

Question

Hi I know its possible to reduce the lower cheeks with buccal fat remobal, but my issue isn't the lower cheeks. While my lower face is slim, my upper cheeks (apple of cheeks) are round and very full, and while I know this is good to look youthful, mine are too big and its distracting on my face and makes it look a lot fatter than it is, and because of this I avoid smiling. Is there any way to reduce this fat? Liposuction, exercise etc? Any surgical options? Thanks

In the absence of any photos or an in person consultation the best I can answer you is in a general way. Options include, weight loss (if you are heavy set), buccal fat pad removal (to thin the mid face and accentuate your cheek bones), strategic liposuction of your neck and jaw line and even selective feature enhancement through volume addition. This latter option will highlight cheek bones, chin and jaw in a similar way to how makeup artists play with light and shadow to contour the face. Best to set up a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon and make an informed decision based on their experience and speciality in the field. View their before and after photos to see what the outcome could potentially be.

This is difficult to answer without pictures. The cheekbones can be reduce with surgery, but it's difficult to predict the results long-term. You can increase the temples with fillers or Sculptra to create more facial balance. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Without a photo or better yet, examining you in person, it is impossible to say what procedure could best deliver your desired goals. In general, round cheeks are the ideal as they are more youthful so perhaps the problem is elsewhere and is one of proportion. The best way to give an answer to your question is to see your pictures. However there is treatment for your complaint. It is possible to fill your lower face with your own fat injection. Of course this filling should be proportional with your upper face. Regards.
