Thank you for yourquestion. Liposuction takes about 6 months to heal. Subtle improvementcontinues for another year. Make sure you are using your compression garment throughout the day, sometimes a foam compression over the area and continue to do frequent. After 6 weeks you do not need the garment anymore. Mostpatients will see 80% of their results at 3 months after surgery. However, the final results will not be seen until after all swelling resolves. This usually takes 4 to 6 months. Be patient, wish you luck. Dr. Ricardo Vega
Swelling after liposuction continues for at least 3 to 4 weeks. We do not judge your initial results for at least 3 months. Graduation day is usually 6 months. Early extensive exercising will prolong swelling. So will a diet rich in sodium that retains fluid. I recommend all my patients where their compression garment 6 weeks, longer than most recommendations. This seems to help with swelling, even in the face of earlier activity.
My patients typically see results immediately, especially with hi definition procedures and even with swelling. However, ultimate results from the procedure are seen after 3-6 months. Starting lymphatic massage, velashape and/or venus legacy, help speed the recovery. I suggest speaking to your physician if you are concerned. Best, Dr. Emer.
Be patient because swelling can last up to 3 months to see the final contour depending on the amount of liposuction that was performed. Compression can help with the swelling so I highly recommend compression garments.
Very generally speaking patients will see about 75% improvement in the first six weeks after liposuction. The final 25% or so may take six months.
Most of the results of liposuction are often seen by about 4-6 weeksafter surgery and often more subtle results are seen throughout the first yearpost-op. The best doctor to assess yourhealing is your plastic surgeon. I wouldrecommend for you to remain patient, follow your surgeon’s advice, continuewith a healthy diet and start exercising again when your surgeon allows youto. These steps will help you achievethe best results.
You are still early in the healing period. You should see significant improvement at 2 weeks, and it should continue to improve over the next few weeks. I use foam padding and compression garments to get optimal results. Be patient. All the Best,Dr. Brian Reagan
The number one posted concern on RealSelf under liposuction is in regards to an early lack of results. When liposuction is done correctly on patients who are good candidates, immediate improvements are typically seen. From there on, results continue to improve over the next three months. Patients will typically be their most swollen approximately one week after the procedure. Many patients will actually gain weight during this part of the healing process because of swelling. One common reason patients fail to see results after liposuction of their abdomen has to do with proper indications for liposuction. When the primary diagnosis is excess subcutaneous fat, then liposuction is typically the treatment of choice. When the diagnosis is something else, then liposuction will not lead to impressive results. Other concerns that are not treated with liposuction include muscle separation from pregnancy, skin laxity and intra-abdominal fat, or intestinal fat. Final results after liposuction typically take around three months. Two weeks is much too soon to judge the outcome of your procedure.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
Hello, if you had lipo done in your arms, it seems like an irregular bump, due to superficial liposuctioning. Its probable that it will fade away in the upcoming weeks. If it persists a revision could be done to undermine the skin from the fat tissue and make it look better. Best wishes
It is not uncommon to do 3 lipos on the same patient all within 1 week since they are so safe under tumescent local. The patients are able to stand up and move in all positions to get the best results with the smaller cannulas. Recovery is faster and easier also. sincerely, David Hansen,MD
It is very common to have bruising and swelling for weeks to months after liposuction procedures. What is most important is that you follow your surgeons post operative instructions and continue compression. If you are concerned, lymphatic massage and Velashape or Venus Legacy treatments can...
