Why does my upper lip drop down after a lip lift surgery?

Very common question and concern with patients after a lip lift.  It's actually rather complex, as it depends on what was done surgically, what your lips and anatomy was like before surgery, etc.  Provided that there was anchoring to the perinasal ligaments, you may see a 10% drop over the span of a year at most.  I find that patients who had a Greenwald modification or an Italian lip lift technique may drop up to 30% over that same time.  It's also true that with swelling, the lip will appear to drop, and pick back up after 2-3 months.  I suggest bringing up your concerns with your doc and they will be more than happy to walk you through the healing process.  Best of luck!
