Can a lip lift be done with local anesthesia vs. general?

Lip lifts can be done under general anesthesia, but I typically only do that for people having multiple simultaneous procedures (e.g. a facelift at the same time). Otherwise, we do this under local in the office.  Take a look at our videos and patient testimonials about lip lifts to learn more.

HelloThe procedure is usually done in the office treatment room awake with local anaesthesia.  We also offer Nitrous, like the dentist. If patients prefer, we can offer twilight or even a general anaesthetic, but this is only rarely requested or used when combined with other surgeries.

Whether of not anesthetic is necessary depends on the procedure. Topical anesthesia is generally used before lip injections while local is used in grafting procedure. I suggest that you consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to learn more about your specific procedure.

An isolated subnasal lip lift is always done under local anesthesia in the office in my practice if that is what the patient prefers.

It is a local anesthesia operation usually. But why did you ask this question? Best to seek are in person opinions to understand the lip lift operation.
