Can you remove a chalazion on the lower eyelid, right next to the tear duct if you have keloids/ hypertrophic scars?

Thank you for the question. It's very rare for eyelids to form keloids and just as rare for incision and drainage of a chalazion to effect the tear duct. With that said, I rarely surgically remove chalazions. Over 90% can be treated with Kenelog injections, hot compresses and oral antibiotics. If this fails, incision and drainage can be performed. I would not worry about keloid formation.  An oculoplastic surgeon will be able to treat your chalazion and protect your tear duct from scarring.  Good luck!

and as the others have said, you can have this removed if needed with the duct protected if necessary.  But you still have to accept the risk for scarring for anyone to do this for you and if someone guarantees that you will not get scarring, get it writing and go for it.
