PRP and ECM for hair loss?

Question

Does ECM (Extracellular Matrix) and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment for hair loss work ? Does it have any clinical data ? Is that a some kind of gimmick ? I am seeing lot of literature on internet about this treatment , promising preventing hair loss and encouraging new hair growth. I looking for an alternative options to propecia to treat my hair loss .

In my opinion, there are studies to substantiate the effectiveness of PRP. The addition of extracellular Matrix is anecdotally successful , however studies do not exist to demonstrate any marginal  Effectiveness by adding this agent. In addition extracellular Matrix is a foreign protein and the incidence of inflammatory reactions are increased. If you are presently on Propecia, The addition of PRP would be very helpful. PRP tends to work better when one combines the two modalities.PRPHAIRMD.COM

there is very promising results from PRP treatments to hair. The treatments must be done frequently however. There also has to be active follicles for the hair to regrow.

That is a popular treatment for hair growth, but ECM isn't as effective as other treatments. In our practice, we combine prp with progesterone and have found it gives better results for hair growth. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert. Best, Dr. Emer
