Good morning and thank you for your question. I typically recommend placing a silicone gel implant below the muscle because they do tend to feel very natural. Can't guarantee that your partner won't feel them.

it is hard to tell for sure but you shouldn't be able to feel breast implants so easily if they are placed behind the muscle. There are a number of factors that contribute to the way implants feel. Placing implants under the muscle will provide additional coverage over the implant in very thin women. The silicone or 'gummy bear' style implants also have a more natural feel than saline implants. Implants also come in a range of different 'gel thicknesses'. The more highly cohesive gels are firmer and will have a less natural feel than the slightly less cohesive options that have a more natural feel.

There are a few factors that contribute to the degree that an implant is felt. The amount of natural tissue you have is one factor. The more natural tissue you have, the more you'll feel that other than the implant. Implant placement is another factor. Placing the implant beneath the muscle will allow coverage for the upper portion of the implant. Silicone versus saline is yet another consideration. Silicone implants feel more like natural breast tissue than saline. I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

Placing implants in front of or behind the muscle in a Breast Augmentation is a decision you make with the surgeon you choose to do your surgery. It is not a simple answer and is based on several factors that can be discussed at your consultation, such as body type, implant choice and the desired look you want to achieve with your breast.

Unless your bed partner is use to examining breasts, it is doubtful that he/she will be able to tell by feel. The implant is placed behind your tissue. However, he/she may notice the scar.
