A to D cup with 380 cc saline implants, should I have gone bigger?

Question

Before the augmentation I was a negative A. my stats are 5'6, 143.8lbs, athletic muscular frame. I went with a 380CC saline implant. I do wear a 34D bra but I feel as if I choose one that is too small. I feel like I should have went up to at least a 450CC implant. I do have to have a revision because of Capslar Contracture so I am leaning toward a bigger implant and also silicone. My surgeon said the 380CC fit me beautifully but I feel like I should have went bigger. Thoughts based on my stats

Thanks for the question, if you really want to go larger it is important that you understand that the extra weight will eventually win and stretch your tissues more than a smaller implant. If you are ok with that tradeoff than you should discuss a larger implant

Size choice is based on a number of factors: breast tissue thickness, breast base width, patient goals etc.  You could consider a second opinion if you are unsure of your surgeon's recommendation.  Seek a board certified plastic surgeon who is familiar with revision breast surgery.  Good luck.

The implant size is ultimately one that you have to live with, so you should choose the size you are most comfortable and happy with.  But, your surgeon will help guide you as well.  One thing to keep in mind in this decision is that a larger implant will stretch your thin breast tissue more over time.  Also, you may want to discuss the use of acellular dermal material with your surgeon, since this could decrease your risk of capsular contracture, thicken your thin tissues, and provide support to the soft-tissues of the breast, particularly if you increase the size and weight of the breast with a larger implant. If your soft tissue will expand then you should be able to increase the size of your breasts.  I would go with your plastic surgeon's recommendations

If you want to go bigger and your chest can "handle it", then it should be possible to have larger implants with your revision surgery.

Dear hmom,Thank you for your post.  I would consider reposting with photos for more specific advise.In general, though, I agree with switching to a silicone implant.  I would consider a highly cohesive silicone implant (gummy bear) rather than a memory gel implant as the former has less chance of capsular contracture.  Also has less tendency to ripple, especially since you have very little breast tissue of your own.On size, if you feel like should be bigger, then go bigger. It is certainly possible to increase your size while your undergoing a breast implant revision and capsulectomy.Concern of course is the recurrence of capsular contracture.  While you may choose a larger size, it is important that you also discussed with your plastic surgeon using acellular dermal matrix wraps of the implant as well as textured implants to hopefully prevent recurrence of your capsular contraction.For more formation on choosing breast implant size please read the following link:
