Are all plastic surgeons open to giving a transgender woman breast implants?

Hello xochristine. I would say that most plastic surgeons are willing to help with MTF breast augmentation. It is usually a good idea to seek a specialist in breast augmentation and one with plenty of experience with MTF breast augmentation! You may have to travel to find the best for your situation. We get a lot of patients from New  Mexico in Scottsdale each and every year mainly because Scottsdale is know as a plastic surgery hub for the southwest. The weather and the accommodations are really great too, especially this time of year. Scottsdale is also well known for their breast implants and has its own MTF center at Greenbaum.  Make sure you see lots of before and after photos on the procedure and sizes you're looking for from your doctor. Not all plastic surgeons feel comfortable performing breast augmentation for transgender women.Definitely, seek out a plastic surgeon who enjoys helping transgender women achieve their goals.  Personally, I enjoy performing transgender breast augmentations for my Seattle patients.  I find it gratifying.Best of luck to you!

While most board certified plastic surgeon should have experience with dealing with a wide rib cage, I have found that a lot of Plastic Surgeon are unwilling to treat MTF transgenders - maybe from a lack of experience. I would recommend that you seek out a Plastic Surgeon with experience doing MTF patients.

Although most board certified plastic surgeons have experience with placing breast implants, not all plastic surgeons feel comfortable performing this procedure in trans women.  It is best to research and see if the plastic surgeon you are considering performs this procedure.  

The plastic surgeon that you select should consider your wide ribcage and select an implant shape that will complement it. Most board-certified plastic surgeons have this experience.
