I am a little over one month post-op for my breast reduction. I really enjoyed HIIT it style work out classes and hot yoga prior to my surgery. I have read that going back can range from 4-6 weeks up to 3 months depending on the type of workout? Any specific clarification for these types of classes would be helpful. Is it the intensity or the sweating? What is it I should be avoiding? I do have some super strong sports bras waiting to be used! Thanks!

Answer: When can I do hot yoga and/or High Intensity Interval Training post-breast reduction? (Photo) The board certified plastic surgeon who performed your BR is the best one to recommend your period of recovery and will provide you with post-operative guidelines. I usually recommend 4 - 6 weeks so that healing should be far enough along to reduce the incidence of complications. You do not want to do anything strenuous or that requires you to bend or stretch. In your case, I would consider hot yoga and HIIT strenuous exercise and recommend that you wait until six weeks to gradually ease back into your former exercise routine.

Answer: When can I do hot yoga and/or High Intensity Interval Training post-breast reduction? The best resource of information would be your surgeon as each has his/her own protocols. There really isn't a standard time to return to activities, as each individual heals at a different rate. Generally, however, it is usually advisable to avoid strenuous activities for the first month post op, to allow early healing, and gradually return to activities.
