Alarplasty Holes After Stitch Removal Permanent?

Question

Hi i'm 5 days post op. on the third day, the stitches are already removed and when i went home to clean it, i noticed that there are 3 or 4 holes from the stitches (1 millimeter in diameter). will this be permanent?? aand. right after i clean it, blood occupies the areas and dry up >_<

The holes you are seeing should improve greatly with time. They may leave permanent marks but usually they are so inconspicuous as to be effectively invisible.

Hello,

	Thank you for the question.  The holes that remain after suture removal is temporary and should close up on their own.  Its not uncommon for the suture holes to be visible especially in thick skin.  Within a day or two they will have closed and be much less noticeable.

Usually the spots were the sutures were removed will close down pretty quickly. Follow your surgeon's instructions.

Dear Bryan,

	Its hard to know what is going on without photos.  However, its best to just keep these 'holes' moist with antibiotic ointment and not keep cleaning them vigorously. This will help it heal faster and the faster it heals, the less of any potential mark it could leave.
