Would Alarplasty Help Fix my Nose Asymmetry? (photo)

An alarplasty would help. However, this may not be the end solution for improving the appearance of your nose. A good surgeon takes the following into consideration when performing a rhinoplasty:

1) The facial features of the patient
2) What must be performed during surgery for the patient's nose to be in harmony with the rest of the face.

During a consultation, your surgeon will be able to make recommendations based on your individual needs. Computer imaging software is a fantastic way to see how the final result may appear, and allows for great communication between you and your prospective surgeon. Based on your pictures your left ala is more flared than your right.  Alar base resection is a nice way to improve this asymmetry.  The larger side would have a larger amount resected than the smaller.  The best thing to do is to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in rhinoplasty surgery.  Good luck.

An alarplasty alone may narrow the width but the rest of the proportions may then look off. I don’t think you can avoid a rhinoplasty, which would include an alarplasty, if you want your nose contours improved. Don’t do a partial correction of the aspect that bothers you the most, as you may not be happy with the resulting disproportion of the rest of the nasal structures.
