Thank you for your question. This is typically do to a post-operative hematoma. The blood congeals right after surgery which doesn't allow it to come out in the drain. After 6-7 days the blood clot begins to break down and liquefy and will come out into the drain as a very dark liquid which is either crimson or almost black. Old blood in the bulb tends to have a very bad smell. I would recommend you following up with your plastic surgeon for specific recommendations as soon as possible.
