If you had to give an average estimate of shrinkage in size after Initial BA, how much would you say on average do breast shrink in size after initial BA ? Also, Has there been instances where the breast size actually increased instead of decreasing after initial BA ? Thank you

Answer: Swelling After Breast Augmentation The swelling after breast augmentation is variable with each patient and the type of procedure that was performed. It typically will take about 1 month for all of the swelling to resolve and sometimes up to 3 months. Sometimes the swelling that is perceived is actually the implants that are high riding that drop over the period of 3 months if the implants were placed under the muscle. The main thing that helps patients is for them to understand that the implants are often in a more high riding position immediately after surgery and that they will be swollen and larger than they will be long term. Patients always do better when they know what to expect. Good Luck, Gaurav

Answer: Swelling after Breast Augmentation The amount of swelling depends on a number of things including whether the implant was placed above or below the muscle, size of the implant in relation to size of the preoperative Breast, and to some extent surgical technique. Subpectiral implants tend to swell a little more than subglandular implants. A large implant in a small framed girl will swell more than a small inplant in a large framed girl. i agree with Dr Morgan...about half a cup size is a good average.
