Stiffness can persist for a year or longer, particularly if cartilage struts or grafts were used or placed. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
Thanks for sending in your photos .You have had a very nice result. If you tip was rotated or secured to your septum it will be stiff. This is a good thing as it means you are healing well and the new shape of your nose will be long lasting. The stiffness will soften with time but will likely be more stiff than your original nose.Good luck!
After 7 months, it is not abnormal to have stiffness in the nasal tip. In general, 70% of your swelling will resolve after the first three months and the remainder goes down over time. It can take 18-24 months to see the final result of your surgery. Your nose will continue to improve over time. I would recommend discussing any concerns with your surgeon, as they know the extent of your surgery and exactly what was performed. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.
Dear lucthefrenchguy, It is common for the nose to be stiff following rhinoplasty surgery It can soften a little over time, but likely not too much This is especially true if you had cartilage grafting to reinforce the nose Best regards, Nima Shemirani
Tip and columella are often stiff and quite numb for several months after surgery (up to 12 to 15 months); this is also in relationship to the kind of rhinoplasty (open vs closed) and if it was the first operation (primary rhinoplasty). Finally the thickness of the skin plays an important role with thin skin allowing a shorter recovery and a thick skin holding swelling for longer. I would advise you to wait up to ten months and then book a review with your surgeon. All the best.
Most patients is substantially recovered 16 days after rhinoplasty. However, there are those that may suffer a bit longer. It would be in your best interests to check with your surgeon however.
It is possible there could have been damage to one of the nasal valves. It six weeks however it would be too early to establish that diagnosis.
Most likely your nose will not return to its normal shape. Nasal trauma that deforms the nose or causes breathing difficulties should be examined by a Plastic Surgeon or ENT/ facial plastic surgeon to see what has been injured, that there is no septal hematoma that may have to be...
Is impossible to say whether the aesthetic goal you're after is achievable in the operating room. It's best to go to a skilled plastic surgeon. You might find video imaging very useful.
Dear Sg1522, If is continues to be painful, you should see your surgeon The black skin will flake off when it heals over, usually lasts a few days Be careful with those sticks, the silver nitrate can run over the lip and cause a burn Best regards, Nima...
As long as a dentist is not put undue pressure on the nose during extraction there is no contraindication.
