Hooded lid/drooping eyelid when smiling - is there a way to fix this? (Photo)

Question

I've noticed a (to me) noticeable asymmetry in my eyes. This is especially when I smile that one of my eyelids looks more droopy/hooded compared to the other. Is there a way to fix this?

Judging from your photo, it appears you have ptosis of the left upper lid. You really need an in person consultation to evaluate the eyelid position and function and brow position and function. Best to see an eyelid expert in your area.

Hello, thank you for your question. It seems like you have ptosis, There are many reasons for ptosis to occur. I recommend you see your physician or an ophthalmologist for an evaluation as to cause of your ptosis.

It appears you have upper eyelid ptosis and may benefit from ptosis surgery. You should see an oculoplastic surgeon for evaluation.

It is possible that you have ptosis of your upper eyelid, but it is difficult to know with only the photo you provided.  A picture of your eyes looking forward when you are not smiling would be helpful.  Ptosis is a common condition that causes asymmetry of the eyes.  Surgery of the eyelid can correct this condition.  You may want to consult with an oculoplastic surgeon or a surgeon experienced in ptosis repair.

As always, an in-office or virtual examination is needed to fully evaluate your options. Based on your descriptions, you may benefit from a blepharoplasty.
