Answer: Chin implant candidate Based on the photos, it does appear you would benefit from chin-augmentation surgery. As a board- certified plastic surgeon, I perform this procedure often, as the results can be life changing! I prefer the intra-oral approach, which prevents any visible scars on the external skin. In addition, there is not a risk of the implant, over a lifetime, migrating down and becoming “ptotic.” The chin implants used are made of inert silicone, come in a variety of sizes/shapes, and I like to carve them to customize to my patients’ specific anatomy. Downtime is only a few days, so that if you had the surgery on a Thursday, you could be back to a desk job by the very next week. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon in person to discuss your goals and expectations.

Answer: Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation with Injectable Fillers -- Radiesse, Sculptra, Surgical Implants, See an Expert A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the overall appearance of the lower face and balancing the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline and improve the chin crease. Implants are still a great option once you are 100% positive that you are ready for a permanent enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert; our practice is located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Chin augmentation Dear billylepage, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from chin augmentation. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: RECOMMENDATION Hello, Based on the photos you posted, chin implant will be suitable surgery for you. You do have receding chin and you need quite of volume for that which cannot be made by your own bone or fat. So the chin implant would be the best option for you. If you are also concerned about weak jawline, you can also consider the jaw implant as well to make the stronger jawline. For more accurate plans, you should have in-person consultation with a surgeon.

Answer: Am I a good candidate for a chin implant? The side profile photographs demonstrate a recessive chin profile for which a chin implant can certainly improve. The implant is designed to augment the Bony mandible forward, and is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure which takes approximately 30 minutes. In our practice, we place the implant through a small incision underneath the chin under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure.
