It’s not common to have headaches post Botox treatment, but they do occur and it’s not something to worry about. It should go away in a day or two. You can take Tylenol for the headache which will help.
Thank you very muchfor your question and congratulations on your recent Botox experience. Headachesare a known side-effect from Botox Cosmetic injections. While most people do notsuffer with from these post-treatment headaches, it is not unusual when they dooccur. The headaches can occur as the targeted muscles begin to relax,‘fighting’ the process. These are normally short in duration and will quickly subside. If your headache continues, contact your Botox Cosmetic provider for theiradvice. Until then, over the counter medication should be enough to keep thediscomfort at bay.
This is very common, usually lasting just the first 24 hours or so. It is generally well treated with Ibuprofen (but consult with your doctor as they may feel it will cause an increase in the bruising). Sorry that you are hurting, but it should go away soon.
Hi Mary Grace,I know how you feel; I have gotten headaches after Botox injections too. I found it helpful to take 400mg of ibuprofen immediately after injection to prevent this. Ironically, I got Botox for migraines and it did work to reduce their occurrence. I don't take the ibuprofen before injections because it increase the chances of bruising, but immediately after.Good luck with this,Lillian Overman, M.D.
Definitely follow up with the physician who injected the Botox. It is fairly common to have a headache after Botox injections, particularly if patients 'fight' the deactivation of the target muscles (although, ironically, Botox is used to treat chronic migraine headaches).
Headache is not uncommon after a botox or dysport injection. It should resolve within a day or two. If it persists or you are concerned, contact your doctor.
Headaches can be common after injections and should resolve soon. If you are still concerned, I recommend following up with your Doctor. Keep in mind, it will take 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. Best, Dr. Emer
This is a known side effect. It should be gone in the morning, if not call your injector. Good luck.Dr Z
Thank you for your question. Yes, Headache can occur after Botox injections, but usually goes away after a short time.Sincerely,Dr. Benjamin J. Cousins MD Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Miami/Miami Beach,FL
Headache is not an unusual symptom in the first several days after Botox. Your muscles may be partly contracting and partly weakened as the Botox takes effect, and this can result in some unusual sensations of muscle strain. Once the Botox is fully effective, the post-injection headache is likely to go away. If it does not, consider following up with the provider who injected you or your primary care doctor. Interestingly, Botox is indicated for treatment of chronic migraine, so you may actually find yourself having fewer frontal headaches after your Botox actually fully takes effect.
