68 year old woman going in for lower body lift with Lipo November 8. I'm worried about going home same day. I've lost 100 pounds. I live alone 30 minute drive from the Drs surgery center. He requires I have an RN with me the first 12 hours ($1000). I'm hiring a caregiver 24/7 for $350 a day after the RN leaves. I've had knee and hip replacements and sleeve surgery all in the last 6 years. I remember having oxygen after surgery and breathing treatments. After sleeve I had a temporary spike in blood pressure and they kept me one night.
Answer: After care facility Great question! For someone with your age and previous medical history, I would probably recommend staying in an after care facility where you will be monitored throughout your stay there. It is basically like a step-down from a hospital facility, but there are nurses available that check in on you and monitor you after surgery. You are correct in that having someone staying with you at home can only really watch you and call an ambulance for you if an issue arises, but there's not too much monitoring going on. Therefore, I would recommend you speak with your surgeon about other options for care after surgery.Best of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsaiBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: After care considerations post-op body contouring For patients in your age group with potential medical co-morbidities (high blood pressure, cardiac history, CPAP use etc), we recommend staying the night at the ambulatory surgery center. Not all surgery centers off the overnight stay option - find a board certified plastic surgeon that can offer this to you.

Answer: 360 circumferential lower body lift belt lipectomy lower body lift lower body lift expert lipo massive weight loss post-op Hi, thank you for your question regarding post-op monitoring of your oxygen and blood pressure after your 360 circumferential lower body lift and lipo. Based on your age, procedure type, and especially, your history, I would suggest a hospital or recovery center for several days post-op. If these are not possible, I certainly suggest you have at least an oxygen and blood pressure monitor. You can purchase these items on our own or your nurse may already have them. Good luck. I hope that this clarifies what I would suggest you use after your 360 circumferential lower body lift and lipo. If you have any more questions regarding a 360 circumferential lower body lift, lipo, procedures after massive weight loss, or plastic surgery in general, please contact my office. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen. Answer: Recovery process Dear FancyNanny, Most plastic surgeries are performed as single day procedures where the patient will go home the same day when the surgery was done. In some high risk cases, patient will stay in hospital. If you have concerns, I suggest you to discuss them with your plastic surgeon.
