If getting a facelift were as simple, inexpensive and risk-free as a haircut, everyone would be doing it just as everyone gets their hair cut. If it isn't a financial hardship for you and if the risk is minimal (as it is if you have an experienced surgeon doing your procedure in a safe, well-equiped operating room), then it's not much more vain that getting your hair cut.All people want their external appearance to project who they ARE on the inside. If you FEEL young and energetic, it is frustrating to LOOK old and tired. Looking at yourself in the mirror or in photographs sets up a disharmonious feeling when the outward appearance doesn't match how you feel on the inside. One's facial appearance influences people's opinion about you at least as much as what you wear or how you groom your hair. Just as dressing in nice clothes and keeping your hair trimmed and face shaved is not considered an act of vanity, wanting and doing what it takes to make your facial appearance look better shouldn't be either.
A person’s age is best guessed by the appearance of their face. If you feel that your face does not reflect how young you feel inside, you may be a candidate for a facelift.During your #consultation, your skin texture and elasticity, as well as your underlying skin structure and your facial bone structure will be evaluated. Based on this evaluation, your board certified plastic surgeons will create a custom surgical plan, detailing specific techniques and recommendations to meet your goals. In doing so, he or she should be sure to have a full understanding of what results you expect. If you are not a #candidate, your surgeon can make other suggestions to address your concerns and objectives. However, if you learn that you are a candidate, this may be helpful. Patients who desire facial rejuvenation that is affordable, quick, and effective should consider the Lite-lift™. Like the Life-Style™ facelift, this is a modified facelift that can be performed in the office with a local anesthetic and improve signs of aging around the neck, jawbone and lower face. These procedures are not "Thread-lifts" or "String-lifts". We do not use the "barbed" sutures employed in these other lifting operations. The Lite-lift™ uses longer lasting techniques that are discussed below. Because the incisions are limited, there is less bruising, swelling and healing time for most patients. Many patients can be back to work in one to two weeks looking rested and more youthful.Lite Lift™ surgery is individualized for each patient. The best candidates for #LiteLift are non-smoking patients 35-60 years old with early changes of the lower face and the neck. Candidates should also have a face and neck line beginning to sag, but skin with elasticity and well-defined bone structure. Older patients who cannot or do not wish to have a longer operation or general anesthetic can be improved with a Lite Lift™.
If you're healthy physically and psychologically and have realistic expectations of the procedure, then 66 is not too old. Patients often feel that they're being vain, but research has found that self esteem and self confidence can both dramatically improve with cosmetic surgery, giving patients a more positive perspective on life.
Vanity has nothing to do with it. If you don't feel as confident as you should because of your concerns about facial aging, then you should see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area to discuss your options. Based on your picture, you could even consider a brow lift and/or upper bleph instead of a facelift. This would depend on what areas of your face are bothering you.Best,
I don't think vanity is an issue. If changing your appearance by subtly reducing fullness, sagging skin, and deep folds would make you feel more confident and "easy in your skin", then it might be the right thing for you.
I think of vanity as an unhealthy obsession with appearance, but wanting to look attractive is a healthy and natural human motive that contributes to overall well-being. Age is not the issue as long as you are in good health.
Hello, it's never too late to look your best. Based on your photos--- and provided your health is good--- you are a candidate for a facelift. To be more accurate I would like to see your profile photo of your neck down to your collar bones. That should give me a more accurate assessment of your condition.
And if you think you would be happier looking a little younger, and you are in good health, from the photos you appear to be a good candidate for a face and neck lift. This would help to get rid of the heaviness in the neck and jowls, and tighten up the jaw line.
You are a perfect candidate for a facelift and are well within the normal age for a facelift to be performed. Best of luck.
The choice to undergo a facelift is a very personal one. If you're concerned about aging in the neck and jawline area, eyebrows and eyelids then a facelift is a reasonable option for reversing those aging changes. It is very common for people 66 to feel much more youthful than their external appearance suggests. If you feel that is an issue for you, then at least looking into facial cosmetic surgery is a reasonable option. Seek a highly experienced facelift surgeon who will have the best chance of giving you the natural results that you are seeking. I hope this information is helpful.Stephen Weber MD, FACS
Facelift surgery is a wonderful operation to help rejuvenate patients who want to look as good as they feel. Patients often ask "What is the right age for surgery?". Of course for most people, it is when you feel you are ready. I do prefer patients not wait until there is so much change due to aging that the result may be slightly hindered. Having reviewed your pictures, the neck component of the lift will be very important so I wouldn't settle for a mini lift or a lift which doesn't address the neck. I would also suggest you consider some type of lateral brow surgery to elevate the lateral brow. This can be performed in the hairline without the need for a visible incision. Before you have surgery, you may want to consider a check up with your doctor to ensure you are in the best health for this type of surgery. Also if you are a smoker, you should consider stopping for 4-6 weeks before the procedure because of increased risk of skin loss as well as increased risk from anesthesia. Best of luck
Usually temoporary injury will improve over several weeks to a few months if the nerve was not significantly damaged with the parotid surgery. Keep your eye moist with drops or ointment if it is affected. Donald R. Nunn MD Atlanta Plastic Surgeon.
Thank you for your question and photos. You are still in the recovery stage. Recovery can take up to 9 months. Within this time all of the swelling will start to subside. Be sure to keep your follow ups with your surgeon.
I've been doing facelifts for over 20 years now and have used a head strap on patients for about one year during that time -- way at the beginning of my career. The head strap was annoying, irritating, rubbed areas that were sensitive or delicate and perhaps reduced blood and lymphatic flow...
