Should I wait until after weight loss to have fillers for my already noticeable nasolabial lines? (photos)

Fillers for the nasolabial areas does so well  so get it done now.  By the time you lose enough weight to affect the nasolabial areas, it will be time to do the fillers again. So just look great now and don't wait.

Thank you for your question! I don't believe you would need to wait until after weight loss to treat your nasolabial folds. 

You can have fillers now to help improve your nasolabial lines. Keep in mind, a combination approach will give the most improvement. I recommend fillers for the lines themselves but also lifting around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. The reasons you were cautioned about getting fillers before you have the gastric sleeve procedure is that the nasolabial folds and wrinkle may be more pronounced after you lose the weight. Please understand however that losing weight does not prohibit you from getting a filler.

I tend to recommend that patient's have filler injected as they start to lose the weight, in effect keeping up with the weight loss. I see no issue with softening your laugh lines using a hyaluronic acid based filler like Restylane Defyne or Restylane Refyne. Once you start losing the weight, you may consider Sculptra Aesthethic to correct panfacial volume loss. 

Thank you for your question. Weight loss will be gradual over a period of months to years. I do not see any issue having hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to any area of the face as they last on average 6 to 12 months. You can always start with less and add more fillers as needed. since wt loss is a long term process, I see no problem getting injected with a HA filler.. I probably would avoid Bellafill since it is so long lasting and your facial shape will change some.. also HA fillers are easily reversible .

I tend to agree with waiting after complete wait loss before deciding to have any volume enhancement to the face.

This decision is definitely a personal one for you. In terms of safety, there is no problem having fillers done before surgery. Although the weight loss will hopefully be dramatic, it usually takes several months before "big" results are noted. Therefore, the filler will already have some time to have been in effect and to start dissolving away. As fat is lost in the body, it may be lost in the face as well (not necessarily at the same rate as fat in other places). Therefore, with less facial fat, the nasolabial folds may become less prominent, making the filler unnecessary. There is always the chance that you will want the filler taken out if it does not look right after the weight loss, but that is up to you. Alternatively, you could save the money for now, and put it towards a celebratory rejuvenation fund for when you obtain those awesome weight loss goals.  It depends on your priorities! Good luck!

There is not a medical reason why you cannot have them now if you’d like them. But, aesthetically speaking, your surgeon likely thinks you will lose a lot of weight in your face, which is true. You will likely have more hollows and your priority of where to place the filler may change based on the changes you will see in your face. It would probably be best to wait but it’s also fine to get some now if you really want to - since filler metabolizes in 6-12 months anyway. Good luck !
