If you take ibuprofen it can increase the chances of bleeding near any fresh wound. Bleeding can actually decrease the blood supply to the newly grafted fat cells and can cause them to die more easily. To play it safe, wait at least a week after surgery and avoid any bending/straining or heavy lifting as well.
We ask patients not to take ibuprofen, aspirin and other blood thinners before any procedure since these can cause bleeding and excessive bruising. One week after your procedure you can restart these medications.
I advis my patiets to avoid medications like Ibuprofen for a week or so prior to surgery but taking them a week after surgery should be no problem. Be sure to check with your surgeon to be sure he agrees and also to be sure that Ibuprofen does not interfere with any other meds he may have prescribed.
It is best to ask your surgeon if you can take ibuprofen after BBL. Some surgeons might not want you to take it for fear of bleeding.
