I’m 60, have one 29-year old child and hate the way my waistline has disappeared. I work out a couple hours a day, most days, but my midsection just stays the same. Due to my age, is a tummy tuck best option or could liposuction or a mini tummy tuck help? I don’t have a ton of extra skin but there is some. I’m 5’6” and 124 pounds.
Answer: Abdomen Just based on your photos, I don't think you need either tuck. However, your clothing was covering part of your lower abdomen. I would suggest meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon and discussing your concerns and options.

Answer: Tummy Tuck and Liposuction Thank you for your questions and photos. A tummy tuck will address excess skin & repair of the abdominal muscle. The abdominal wall can be weakened after pregnancy and (or) significant weight gain & loss. By repairing the muscle, not only does the appearance of your abdominal area improve, but your core strength as well. The repair of the muscle will cinch your waist like an inner corset, which will accentuate your curves. Liposuction will remove excess fat from unwanted areas with some skin retraction. Your expectations and health will dictate the best procedure(s) for you. I suggest a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to go over the options that best address your goals. Best of luck! Dhaval Patel MD Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Chicago South Barrington Oakbrook Orland Park

Answer: Due to my age (60) is a tummy tuck the best option? (photos) Thank you for your question: due to my age (60) is a tummy tuck the best option? Thank you for your question regarding what to do with your abdomen. I do realize that you’re sixty years old and previously had a child. By closely looking at your pictures it appears that you do not have much excess skin therefore I do not think you need a tummy tuck. I would suggest instead you have VASER liposuction. VASER liposuction will help to melt the fat around your abdomen and especially around your waistline. It would be ideal to try to achieve an hourglass figure. Also, the VASER will help with skin contractility and maximize skin recoil. In my opinion, VASER is the best option for your liposuction. I do not think you need muscle plication or removal of the excess abdominal skin. In my opinion, VASER hi-def liposuction will benefit you best. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen. Answer: Due to my age (60) is a tummy tuck the best option? Hello @Grandriver, thank you for your question and showing your pictures. Yes, a tummy tuck combined with liposculture 360 can give you the results you want. I would recommend a modified mini lipectomy. I would also recommend liposculture as a body contouring procedure to define more your abdomen and waistline. Together, these procedures will give you a more youthful and slim appearance. I would encourage you to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. During your consultation, your surgeon will be able to assess your unique needs and develop a treatment plan that is right for you. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.

Answer: Liposuction only? Congrats! You look amazing at 60!!! Based on your pictures, I agree that it does not seem that you have a lot of excess skin. In this case, liposuction alone may be a good choice to improve the area of concern (waist line). However, you should be evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon that can closely evaluate your skin tone and laxity. Your overall health and active medical conditions are the most important when deciding if you are a good candidate for surgery rather than your age. Good luck!
