Is there any difference between the actual implant and when it gets placed under the muscle? Is it slightly smaller then the sized you try on before hand?

Answer: Implant selection, 450 vs 535cc Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. There is not a significant difference in size when the implant is placed under the muscle. It will be a different shape than what you tried on (usually a more natural shape when good technique is used). The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: 450 cc vs 535 cc? Thank you for sharing your excellent question. There is no difference in the size of implant used when placed below or above your chest muscle so I would advocate trying on the sizers in your surgeon's office and selecting the one whose appearance you most like. Hope this helps.
