Is this bruising or capsular contracture? (Photo)

Thank you for your question and photos.  From the pictures, I am concerned that you have more blood in the implant pocket.  It is difficult to remove all of the blood just with aspiration, so it is possible that you may need further surgery to remove the blood.  Best to check with your surgeon again ASAP.  Good luck.

I'm sorry that you had some issues with your left breast. It looks like just some continued resolution of bruising to me. Capsular contracture does not commonly occur at only 5 weeks. I would be sure to see your surgeon this week to see if any additional blood/fluid can be removed, and then work on massage when he/she gives you that approval. Best wishes.

HiThanks for your question.From your description it sounds like you did have some bleeding from trauma while moving and developed a hematoma. Your PS drained some blood and may need to repeat the aspiration if blood or fluid builds back up. There is always the possibility that this treatment may not work and you need a reoperation. I would discuss that with your PS who will be monitoring your breast to see if the findings improve.I hope this helps....

I am sorry that you're having difficulty after your breast augmentation.  The fact that you have an extensive bruise and your surgeon has drawn blood out of the implant pocket suggested to have a hematoma.  Hematoma does increase the risk of capsular contracture.  The standard treatment of hematoma is surgical removal of all blood and exchange of the implant.  Continue to follow with your surgeon.
