How long does redness in the tummy tuck incision last?

Redness is a sign of and actively remodeling incision. This is perfectly normal after any surgery. The rate at which the healing process resolves is highly variable from patient to patient. It may take as long as two years.

Thank you for your question. Scars evolve through a life cycle that can take 12-18 months. During that time they can have a red appearance. There are multiple modalities for scar therapy including massage, compression, topical ointments for hydration, and silicone sheet therapy. I recommend that you make an appointment with your plastic surgeon to discuss your options for scar therapy.

Redness on a fresh incision can take approximately 1 year to resolve. If it persists this can then be treated with a laser to lessen the redness. Good luck. 

Dr. Zubowicz is correct.  Tummy Tuck scars are always red for a variable length of time after surgery.  Just be very careful to avoid any sun exposure to the scar (cover up and sun block) while the scar remains red or else it may remain permanently dark.  Good luck.
