Our patient is a 56-year-old Middle Eastern female who weighed 139 lbs and came to Dr. Timothy Katzen two years after her original breast augmentation because her right breast began to feel tight and look less natural from a thickened scar tissue capsule around the implant. Dr. Katzen recommended a right breast capsulectomy, a breast implant revision procedure that removes the hardened capsule to allow the breast to soften, move more naturally, and regain better symmetry. Under general anesthesia, he reopened the prior incision so scar placement remained as discreet as possible, then carefully separated and removed the abnormal capsule from around the implant. This capsule can act like a shrink wrap layer, changing breast shape and making the implant feel firm.
