This patient was experiencing pain prior to explant, especially on her left side. She had 300cc TEXTURED saline breast implants. She had a double capsule on each implant that was adherent. The left side was very contracted (Grade 3-4) & calcified. VIEW NOW

Can you guess what is causing these 2 breast implant capsules to be such different sizes?
We ran this on our instagram page and nobody, not even the many other plastic surgeons who had many attempts, were able to guess what the cause was. It certainly wasn't anything Dr T had expected to see! VIEW NOW

This patient had implants in the past OVER & UNDER the muscle. Her saline implants were removed & residual capsules from her previous breast surgery. A hardened, dark fluid-filled pocket was removed, also. It will be sent out for further testing. VIEW NOW

Ruptured Implant
Ruptured implants are rare, however they do occasionally occur, and when they do patients need to contact their plastic surgeon. It is extremely important to schedule a visit if you suspect your implants have ruptured so they are not left untreated. VIEW NOW

Capsule cutting-bilateral ruptured textured implants
Here is a capsule cutting from a breast explant case. An en bloc total capsulectomy was performed. This patient had textured silicone breast implants. Notice the degree of encapsulation & calcification. Additionally, she had bilateral ruptures. VIEW NOW
Capsule cutting-calcification with gel bleed
This pt had an ENBLOC total capsulectomy. She had 2 MRI’s prior & both suggested a double rupture. Thankfully, that was not the case. One side was extremely calcified, which caused the implant to fold. There was a gel bleed noted, too. VIEW NOW
