I have the Mirena IUD ring. It says one of the side effects is higher risk of blood clots. How common is that for women who just had Lipo, TT & BBL surgery? Are there any cases where their birth control really affected their recovery? Or affected the doctors choice to take them on for surgery?
My PS wants my Mirena out 3 wks before surgery. It contains progesterone, not estrogen I'm getting a TT/lipo to flanks. I have researched Mirena & looked at answers on RS. I'm finding that estrogen seems to be the hormone that can increase the risk of PVT and PE; Mirena does not contain estrogen. I am going to take it out because I want to be as safe as possible and follow what my surgeon has asked, but was wondering why some say it's completely safe and others do not (like my PS). My BMI is 32 so I am also wondering if that combined with any hormone at all, is the issue?
I've had the Mirena IUD inserted for the past few years now and as a result, I do not menstruate; I'm wanting to know if It needs to be removed before my surgery... Mirena is an FDA-approved intrauterine device (IUD) that is recommended for women whove had a child. Its made of soft, flexible plastic. Getting Mirena is nonsurgical, and placement is done by your healthcare provider during a routine office visit.
