Horrible Outcome.

I'm giving Dr. Poulos a 2. I had an implant revision because I had implants for 10 years and both of them split. Dr. Poulos has great bedside manner and is very kind. I'd give him 5 stars for that. Some of the people in the office were very kind and professional as well. I'd give them 5 stars also which is why I've given a two star rating instead of only 1, or 0 if possible.
The first surprise was that the implants were smaller than I wanted. I didn't want big ones but I wanted them equal to my previous implants- these are a couple of sizes smaller. It's not horrible, but since I was paying $18,000 for the revision I expected to be heard. I questioned doing the lift as well. I feared I'd have the vertical scars I've seen in so many photos, but I didn't imagine that it would turn out as horrible as it did. I my breasts are also very crooked as well. One side is completely botched. The nipple is not shaped like the other. The scarring around that makes it look even worse. In my previous surgery, the very minimal scars sat nicely hidden in the crease under my breast. These scars are much higher - not hidden at all.
I got a horrible infection during healing. I went into the office as soon as I realized. There was pus and it was very painful and inflamed - a very obvious serious infection. I felt that the infection was beginning to get systemic as I had a fever and felt ill from it. Dr. Poulos looked at it and assured me that it would be okay. I couldn't believe it because it seemed almost gangrenous. He sent me on my way. I was at a loss at what I could do if his office wouldn't help me. I didn't feel comfortable going to an emergency room doctor and didn't know other plastic surgeons in the area. Just when I was wondering, I got a call and he said that I should go get a different antibiotics prescription, which I did. The infection took weeks to go away. Meanwhile, scarring began. It was bright red, hard and raised. I've never had a keloid scar before. You can see in the photos where the infection spread to. We cannot know if the infection was caused during surgery, but the way it was addressed was very unprofessional. When I returned later, I was given shots for the scarring which didn't seem to help. The incision areas looked like Freddy Kruger's face. Dr. Poulos said to me not to worry, their office wouldn't leave me this way. He offered to cut out the scarred area but you can see by the photos that it would remove far too much skin and would put the scarring in a more visible are higher on the breast and would distort further the side that is lower. The office gave me a few free laser sessions but then told me that they would only cut out the scar and I'd have to pay for more laser if I wanted to do that. I was treated rudely last time I called and was told that they'd have to talk to Dr. Poulos and I'd have to resubmit photos again to make an appointment. They never called me back. The laser seems to help and reduces the scarring a bit each time. I've had to make the decision to find another practitioner to finish doing the laser scar removal. It's working but I'm paying $300-500 each time. With a couple more treatments the scarring should finally be gone. That will be about $2000 by the time the scars are to a place that isn't shockingly bad.
