I have been taking Spironolactone 150mg for 2 months now. the first month I had a horrible initial breakout, and now it has gotten a little better but still breaking out. I know spironolactone can take 3-4 months to really start working, so I was wondering if I could begin taking minocycline to help until the spiro really kicks in. I have taken minocycline in the past and it works really well for me.
I was on spironolactone for the past 5 months and it cleared by skin, however the doctor also prescribed me tretinioin this month. I only used it about 3-5 times in the past three weeks and I am breaking out excessively. I have my senior pictures in two week. Will the effects of the tretinoin die down soon and go back to normal. Is my spirononlactone no longer working because of the tretinoin?
my derm recently put me on spirolactone for acne i agreed to go on it because she said it would not cause an intitial bad breakout before getting better. ive since read many testimonials on line that it does about one month in does anyone have info about this?
I love Spironolactone! It changed my life. I've been taking is since I was 16 (I am 20 now), and for the most part, it has worked wonders. However, I occasionally bump up my dosage (150 mg now with no side effects) if I experience a break out. When I say breakout, I mean 3-4 pimple a month - not cystic and usually around my period. I'm scared that my face will go back to pre-spiro. Is that possible and is it normal to not be 100% clear after a certain amount of time on the medication. Thanks!
I've been on spironolactone for years and years; it was keeping my skin under control, but I did not want to have to rely on this drug for many more years to keep my acne under control. I was put on accutane Nov. 2015 at 60mg a day; in January I was upped to 80mg due to no dryness at all. I'm now experiencing very little dryness of the eyes, nose and lips; I have had nose bleeds though. I'm also still breaking out horribly; is this normal? Shouldn't the use of the combined drugs be enough?
I was put on spiro and trinessa (ortho tri cyclen) two and half months ago for mild to moderate acne(cystic). I had severe cystic acne breakouts(cheeks, chin and some on forehead) with the medication. I switched to yaz (I have had success in the past with yaz) after 2 months and continued taking spiro. It has been 3 weeks on this combination and I am still breaking out. How long should I wait before I decide spiro is not for me?
my doctor put me on 25 mg of Spironolactone twice daily to help hormonal acne. I was researching reviews online and many women have said it caused weight gain and cellulite, and that you can have a bad breakout when you first start on it. my Doctor said most his patients started seeing results within three weeks and did not experience I intial breakouts. Wanted to know why and if Spironolactone can cause these reactions. Is cellulite because it effect estrogen levels? I'm nervous to start it
Hello! I was taking 100mg/day of Spironolactone to help with my adult hormonal acne. After my skin cleared up, I weaned myself off of it by dropping down to 50mg/day and then 25mg/day until I wasn't taking anything. Two months later, I noticed some more breakouts along my chin coming back. I recently started taking saw palmetto instead of the Spironolactone because it seemed like a natural alternative. I'm on 900mg/day and just want to know if it's worth continuing to take to try to help clear up my skin.
