I was put on spiro and trinessa (ortho tri cyclen) two and half months ago for mild to moderate acne(cystic). I had severe cystic acne breakouts(cheeks, chin and some on forehead) with the medication. I switched to yaz (I have had success in the past with yaz) after 2 months and continued taking spiro. It has been 3 weeks on this combination and I am still breaking out. How long should I wait before I decide spiro is not for me?

Spironolactone has no effect on the aging of your skin, if anything it clears acne, improving the color, texture/tone, and scarring of the skin. Best, Dr. Emer.
This is the trade off with spiro vs Accutane, some patients will have period irregularities. We can not tell if this agrees with you or not. If you are getting problems, drop the dose, or seek advice for cyperterone acetate as another anti-androgen. All the bestDr Davin Lim Laser and...
Oral contraceptive pills are useful in the treatment of hormonal acne, with or without spiro. Regarding the frequent urination, please follow up with your primary care physician to get better control over your symptoms. Be well.
