I've been on Spironolactone for about 9 months now, I started on 100mg and have moved down to 75mg in the last month or so. I haven't got my period since I started, which I know is normal but I was under the impression it could come back on a lower dosage. How long does it take to see the effects if my period will come back? And at what point should I try a lower dosage again?
Ive noticed three distinct bumps on my face; the one on my forehead is particularly prominent. These bumps differ from acne as they cause neither pain nor irritation upon contact. They began to appear approximately one to two years ago, and their origin remains unclear to me. I suspect they might be the result of clogged pores, although I cannot say for certain. My skincare regimen includes a cleanser, followed by niacinamide in the morning and retinol in the evening. What procedure can help?
Im 41 female, have struggled on and off with jawline hormonal cystic acne and it is very upsetting. Is topical spironolactone effective? I dont like the idea of systemically taking this med orally. I have tried many other treatments. use retin a currently with little benefit, took accutane about 15 years ago with some temporary improvements. I have scarring and continue to breakout , I dont know what else to do, any suggestions please help
I have acne since puberty. I don't have PCOS. I seriously tried everything: 1)I used Roaccutane at age 21; it left gross hyperpigmentation; and mu acne never really went away. 2)I tried Dermapen, RF microneedling, Hydrafacial, Silkpeel, chemical peeling (all at different times/years). None of them has been really helpful. I always moisturise. 3)one thing truly worked was a year long treatment of Spironolactone + Diane 35. But, I can't be on pill all the time? What should/can I do? Please help.
I've been on spironolactone for about 9 days and have noticed a rash that started on the tops of my feet and my legs has spread throughout my body. I've been off of it now for 2 days. Is this common? I was concerned it was an allergic reaction as I'm super sensitive to medication so I stopped.
I've been prescribed Spironolactone and/or birth control to get what remains of my cystic acne under control (it has improved with a new topical regimen, but I still get some cysts around my period, which is somewhat irregular). I would prefer to avoid taking oral medication if possible, and am worried about weight gain. Are there side effects I should be worried about with Spironolactone, beyond potassium levels and increased urination?
I got cystic acne after I stopped taking birth control pills and I've tried antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide 10%, salicylic acid 10% creams and cleansers, glycolic acid cleansers, retinols and nothing is helping. My dermatologist prescribed me spironolactone but I'm afraid to give it a try if the acne will come back worse when I stop taking it.
I have limited break outs but severely oily skin and congested pores that become stretched as a result. One doctor recommended spironolactone and another recommended a course of 20mg Accutane. Re spironolactone I am confident it will work as it worked for my sister but I am concerned about the association with cancer and the need to take a pill every day. I was also told that Accutane may not help with oil after the treatment. Which course is safest and most effective?
I was on spiro for many years, worked great, except that makes me extremely tired and lowers my blood pressure a lot. Changed to Seysara, works great except my skin, hair get greasy, sometimes is hard on my gut, is expensive and I dislike the idea of long term use. My doctor has been great but Im looking for other opinions. Could I mix those two in minimum doses? Im 145lb 5,5 ft. What could be a minimum dosage that keeps my skin somehow clear, while keeping my energy and not breaking the bank?
Hi there! I have mild but persistent acne on my jawline and cheeks. I was on Diane-35 for 3 years which completely cleared up my acne - but I stopped 1 year ago. 6 months ago I began breaking out again. My aesthetician told me to take Osmosis Skin Defense supplements (3 per day) which I'm not sure has helped. I just received a script for Spiro - should I take both together? Will this increase effectiveness or should I stop taking DIM and take Spiro alone? Thanks so much
