3 yrs post op primary septorhinoplasty. From the moment my cast was off i knew something was wrong, but I waited 3 yrs anyway. The front view of my nose looks very strange. Ive actually never seen anything like it before. The photos of before and after below speak for themselves. There is an actual complete break in the cartilage of my right alar rim. Saw my surgeon last week for rasping and he says my nose looks good and my alars are just naturally uneven. Any advice?
I've read that post rhinoplasty if a bump remains it can be rasped in office. I have what my surgeon said is a cartilage bump that remains and that it can be removed in office. Is this a common procedure? I have only heard of rasping for bone
I had my rhinoplasty done 7 months ago in another country. Everything went great and Im overall happy but I do have a question. Is there a way to tell if the bump on my nose is swelling? If its not swelling I guess that would mean its scar tissue or maybe he just didnt remove all of the bump that I used to have? I dont really know. Is nasal rasping something that can be done for this sort of issue?
I do have a kind of deformity on my nose that can probably be reduced by sanding or rasping the nasal bone. It looks like a very slight hump on the bridge of the nose which causes a small bump from the side and bigger bump on one 3/4 profile (such profile from the other side doesn't have it)? So there is my question. Does sanding the nasal bone have lower or the same probability of forming callus In comparison to breaking bone? And how long does convalescence last after such procedure?
Hello, I had an open rhinoplasty about 7 months ago. I really like the tip but I have a bump on the top part of my nose, on the Bonny part of the bridge which highly bothers me. My surgeon told me that it was my bone and that he didnt remove enough of it during the surgery. He offered me to rasp the bump in his office in a few months under local anesthesia. After reading posts online I am scared that rasping would lead to an open roof deformity. Any advice? I am mostly bothered by the 3/4 side.
I had a septoplasty and dorsal hump rasping 6 years ago and have been left with what appears to be an open roof deformity. My new surgeon suggested to either do an osteotomy or do side rasping to make the boney side of my nose stick out less. I origionally chose the rasping, but now I fear it will make it all worse. Is an osteotomy the way to go hear?
Hello, I have been asking myself this question for the longest time. I saw that some people who get a rhinoplasty can develop a callus post op. This callus can be rasped down with a local anesthesia procedure. Normally when taking down a bump on the nose, osteotomies are done to close the open roof deformity, but why arent osteotomies required when rasping down a callus post op? Thank you for your answers.
