Hello, I have a bony callus that formed after breaking my nose. I saw how it can be rasped down in the office with local anesthesia, could that procedure cause an inverted v deformity ? Thank you for taking the time to reply !

Answer: Should not cause an inverted V deformity Good morning, Sorry to hear about your broken nose! Rasping a bony callous should absolutely not cause an inverted v deformity. This deformity is caused when the nasal bones are over-rasped (almost always during a hump takedown). An experienced facial plastic surgeon should have no problem sculpting this callous down into your natural shape with no residual deformities. Hope this is helpful!

Answer: Rasp the nose Hi @lovybunny, Excellent question. Technically yes if the rasping is done too forcefully or in a location where it causes separation of the upper lateral cartilages from the nasal bones. I recommend a consultation with a rhinoplasty specialist. Best of luck, Dr. Ghazizadeh
