Hello! I have debated whether to inquire about this, but decided it was time. I had a primary rhinoplasty 6 years ago. The 2nd image (right lateral profile) is about 6 months after the surgery, at a point where I was quite pleased with the result. Since then, I have noticed some significant changes that I am concerned (and honestly dejected) about; they include increased nostril show (I measured about 5-6mm), a hanging columella, and resulting bulbous tip (especially apparent at a 3/4 view). I was hoping that a professional could provide some clarity regarding these concerns (e.g. whether they are valid, if I should make peace with this result, or could benefit from a revision in the future). I was hoping to never have surgery again, yet I find myself at a crossroads. Being that I am not a facial plastic surgeon, I cannot pinpoint what caused the slight deformity, and I would greatly appreciate any feedback from a technical aesthetics viewpoint. Any input at all would be incredibly helpful. Thank you so much.
16 months ago, first rhinoplasty. At 1-week splint removal, it was discovered an internal stitch fell out, resulting in fluid pooling directly above the columellar incision. Doc has injected steroids (no help) & laser, which help, but bump always grows back. Over next 8 months, my columella began dropping, 2nd procedure to remove scar tissue and cartilage. Im now 6 months after 2nd surgery, very little change. My columella is still hanging, is full of scar tissue, and is 2x thick as pre-op.
One year post op and I am not happy with my result. I am breathing well, but I am not satisfied with the aesthetic result. Nostrils are retracted and columella is still hanging. . Surgeon said that the hanging columella is caused by the graft he put to support the nose from drooping. I am also afraid of messing my breathing since it was a revision for fonctionnal issues and aesthetic issues. What happenEd? Does it look like scar tissue?
Hi all, I had breathing issues and wanted to fix the aestetic side a bit. Bump on the bridge, crooked nose, uneven nostrils. unfortunatelly the doctor made much more things to the nose that we didnt discuss! Shorted it, slim bridge, so pinched tip! So I hate my new nose and I am in a big depression, dont look like myself, Is it possible to restore some of my old nose features - hanging columella, higher and wider bridge, rounded tip? 3m po
I had 2 rhinoplasty procedures in the past and I am still unhappy with the shape of my nose. The droopy tip (especially when I smile), asymmetrical nostrils and hanging columella makes to wonder if I should try another revision procedure. I would be happy to hear feedback from professionals.
It has been two years since I had my rhinoplasty and I'm not satisfied with the results. I'm aware perfection is not the goal, symmetry is not guaranteed but I think my nose looks strange. I feel it is over-projected and wonky with the nostrils being asymmetrical and large on the right side due to the columella hanging. Going back to my surgeon hasn't helped, I feel like I'm being gaslit due to one side looking normal. Photos: Grey = 1 year on, purple 1.5, green 2
I decided to get a rhinoplasty with the only concern of a side hump. I really liked my nose, specially the tip. I just wanted to make that subtle change. The surgeon I went to did a lot of changes that led to an overturned tip and a lot of nostril show.I wanted something natural and he left me with and obvius overdone nose. I feel terrible and self conscious. Do you think it can be fixed? Besides, my columella is hanging from one side from bad suture
I received a septoplasty and rhinoplasty at the end of December. I am extremely unsatisfied with my results. I wanted my bridge straighter, and a small bump removed. I suspect that I have an inverted v deformity, uneven nostrils, and a hanging columella. I don't know what went wrong as I went to one of the top plastic surgeons at Penn :( I don't know if I should go back to the same doctor for a revision. I loved my results after 1 months what went wrong :(
had a rhinoplasty done 13 months ago and the outcome is that a have a lot of tip scar tissue and nasal exposure and maybe a slightly hanging columella. My doctor is recommending I refine the tip and everything else will balance out, but I feel that my nostrils have been pulled back and up so much they need to be addressed! with the size of my nostrils, I fear too much tip reduction will make them even more disproportionately large. What is the correct approach: alarplasty? Tip refine?
I had a closed rhinoplasty in 2014. I did not ask for a dramatic change and was mostly satisfied, but I feel that end of my nose is still large and nothing was done to improve my hanging columella which bothers me and makes my nose seem quite long. I also feel my nose is slightly crooked. I attached photos (before, after, and wish pics). Are my wish pics attainable? If so, does anything other than my columella need to be addressed? Should I opt for an open surgery rather than closed?
