i had a rhinoplasty which causes alar rim retraction, i then had silikon 1000 places on both side to correct the problem, however now my right nostril was over corrected. is there a surgical fix for this that can be done under local anesthesia. Filipino doctors say its possible but the american doctors i have found seem to be hesitant.
I had my first rhino in august 2023. I asked for tip rotation and dorsal hump to be shaved down and that is what i received but i did not realize how much my smaller nostril would retract, exposing the columella. The tip graft is obvious and getting worse. My natural asymmetry is now much more apparent and i think my nose looks too short and unnatural. I am asking if it is possible for me to achieve a natural result lowering my nose and possible to add a graft to my nostril
In Aug 2022, I had septorhinoplasty for a deviated septum and dorsal hump, with some tip work to lift. Nov 23 revision with same surgeon to lift tip again and rasp lump on bridge. Surgeon said they caught lateral cartilage, causing a asymmetric hump on the bridge. I also think I have alar retraction, and my nasal breathing is reduced. Same surgeon proposes trimming protruding cartilage and lowering nostrils but didnt mention grafts or alar retraction. What are your thoughts/advice?
Hi, I wonder what happens if I underwent revision rhino again for alar retraction? It is not addressed at all in the first revision with rib graft. All of those previous rib cartilages would be removed and nose will be reconstructed from scratch? So my rib is wasted for nothing? I dont need alterations for the shapeonly need nostrils lowered so less columella show? Currently it is like 10mm.
I had primary and revisionrhinoplasty, with the last surgery taking place over two years ago. My tip, i find is uneven / crooked. the alar retraction makes the appearance look asymmetrical. I really dont want to undergo another procedure, especially under general anaesthesia. What are my options to correct this? My surgeon is saying leave it to avoid further disappointment. But this is causing significant distress in my day to day life.
I had a rhinoplasty 20 years ago (do not know if it was open or closed). Now I have become intolerant of the expansion of my nostrils. Last year I finally got temporary fillers because I am unwilling to have a revision rhinoplasty that involved general anesthesia. I understand correction for alar retraction involves skin grafts and can be done in office under local according to some great before and after photos from a surgeon in CT. Can my nostrils be lowered/refined/fixed without general?
My nose job was done 20 years ago and now the alar retraction and triangle nostrils bother me, however, a couple of doctors rejected me for revision rhinoplasty because they thought the outcome would not be what I expect. I want to have your opinions, if I could. Thank you Overall I want to have a smaller tip as well.
Hi! In 2020, I had a revision rhinoplasty after the 1st left me with a pollybeak. During my revision, I also had a lip lift to improve asymmetry from hemifacial microsomia. Now, my alar seems retracted & nostril is 'pulling my lip back down', causing more asymmetry. I'm at a loss. :/ My doctor is genuinely great and skilled, but my results seem to be falling short. How does one know when to give up vs. when to ask our surgeon for more help? I am nervous to politely address :(
After previous rhinoplasty 10 years ago, I was left with a deviated septum and alar retraction on my left side. I had revision rhinoplasty and the deviated septum was corrected as well as an auricular composite graft was used only on the left side. I hate it. the alar retraction was overcorrected and my nostrils are more asymmetrical now. 1.) Can a composite graft be safely and effectively removed? 2.) Will my nose shape go back to the previous retracted shape or even worse? Or unpredictable?
