I've heard conflicting things regarding using Hydrocortisone cream after Medium to Deep chemical peels. (I use 1% strength) My Dr said Hydrocortisone right away after chemical peels can help prevent scarring & hyperpigmentation and that you should use it 2-3 x a day immediately after the peel for 3-7 days. But I read that Hydrocortisone actually inhibits proper healing from occuring and that the inflammation after the peel is actually good & needed for maximum results. I'm so confused! Help!
Hydrocortisone cream typically works for me with small bumps such as these, is that safe to use after an at home peel? I also have severe acne and do not want to irritate it.
I did a medium strength superficial chemical peel at home (Dr Gross AHA/BHA peel pads) on Saturday morning. The results were fantastic and my skin looked great until I woke up Sunday morning. My eyes and face were swollen, my skin was burning, itching, and I have tiny raised bumps on my face. I have taken Benadryl daily and used 1% hydrocortisone cream. Its day 3 and the s/s have improved minimally. What is this and will it go away? What should I do to help my skin?
Had chemical peel burn 2 weeks ago. I used aquaphor + hydrocortisone 1% for several days which have partially healed the burn. Now, my usual moisturizers do not sting but my skin is still slightly pink, bumpy, and irritated. At this point, are the following ingredients are okay to use: niacinamide, oils (buckthorn, rose hip), ceramide, hyaluronic acid, lanolin, copper tripeptide. In general, how do I speed up skin healing at this point? Thanks!
I had a peri-oral croton oil peel 1 month ago. Was given a medrol dose-pak a few days after for swelling (which resolved it). Two weeks into my recovery I was still bright red though & started 2.5% topical hydrocortisone 2 to 3x/day. This has only slightly improved the color. My ps says that I may want to go up to 5% if redness doesn't improve soon. Is this normal recovery? Do most people require hydrocortisone & stay this red this long? How long is hydrocortisone safe to use on this area?
Hi. My knees have been the darkest part of my skin. I looked for treatments that would make it even and I've tried yellow peeling oil. It felt fine for the first three days and I wore dresses. Then on the fourth (done applying the oil) it started to become really itchy. I applied Hydrocortisone cream before I slept and when I woke up, my knees are too red. I thought it will go away once peeling has finished but no! It's still red as scarlet. Is this still normal? What should I do?
I believe my recent chemical peel wasn't applied correctly. I had one other peel before this one with much better results. All was ok until about 2 days ago I noticed tiny bumps all over my face. After the peel I started using a new mosturizer with spf 30. I forgot to apply the mosturizer on Wednesday while I was in the sun. I am not sure if the bumps are due to the chemical peel, the new product or the sun exposure. What can I do to get rid of the bumps? I applied hydrocortisone will this help?
