Its been about a year and a half to two years since I had braces and after my braces came off I noticed my gums were pretty puffy/swollen. Now, theyre still the same size. Ive brushed and flossed the same amount. My orthodontist said that they would just go down on their own in max 3 months after I got them off, but clearly that did not happen. I dont like the way it looks and Im honestly concerned. My teeth are relatively tiny so it is noticeable.
I was in a car accident about 4 years ago and my upper lip hit the steering wheel. Could leftover scar tissue from the swelling make my upper lip bigger? My upper teeth also completely overlap my bottom teeth. Would lip surgery or braces help? Or would jaw surgery help balance out my facial profile?
My braces were removed January 26 I noticed my eyes/face started swelling in October, shortly after my last adjustment. My orthodontist told me my jaw was tired and not to worry my braces would be off soon. The problem has worsened since they've been off. I went back to see him and he told me to consult a TMJ specialist, because my muscles are working to hard. I'm scared because I just paid 6,800 for braces and I'm now having jaw problems I didn't have prior. Why are the muscles working to hard?
