I know the half-life of doxycycline is slightly less than 24 hours so it should theoretically be out of your system within 5-6 days, but I am concerned because the half-life of accutane is also around 24 hours but accutane patients are prohibited from getting pregnant 1-2 months after their last accutane pill, which makes me wonder whether a similar time frame is needed between stopping doxycycline and starting accutane? (Especially regarding intracranial hypertension and liver problems).
I have been struggling with texture, redness, pimples that are deep, and irritation with sensitive skin. I have been prescribed to doxycycline, sulfamethoxazole trimethopim, epiduo, and retain a. I have been prescribed to these medications over the course of 3 years now and nothing has worked. Is accutane my way to go?
Any clue what this is & how to get rid of it? For a year+ I've had these bumps on my torso. I'm thin, no skin folds, never sweaty. Wear loose cotton clothing, rarely wear a bra. The bumps are on ribcage between breasts, & upper stomach. It often stings/itches. I've tried benzoyl perox, BHA, AHA, hydrocortizone, Desonide, tretinoin, Hibiclens, Cerave, Mupirocin, Xolegel, doxycycline, Keflex, Spiro, zinc soap, erythromycin, etc...nothing helps. Any ideas?
I am 20 and have mild to severe acne for almost 3 years. I have consulted two dermatologists. One prescribed Doxycycline and the other prescribed Accutane. The one who prescribed doxycycline said to continue it for 2 - 3 months and it will most likely reduce my acne. However he said if it doesn't work he will prescribe Accutane then. So should I directly go with Accutane or start with Doxycycline first. Which will be the more safe and effective method ?
