Can I start using doxycycline two weeks after using Accutane 20 mg for 8 weeks?

I would definitely check with your own dermatologist first, but you might need to wait until 4 weeks post accutane to take doxycycline.  We don't clear patients to attempt pregnancy until after the 4 week "wash out" period after their last dose of accutane, so there is still a chance there is a little residual accutane in your body.  You wouldn't want to risk the combination, so my personal advice as a dermatologist who prescribes a lot of accutane is to wait another 2 weeks.  In the meantime, try a mild salicylic acid wash, maybe a topical antibiotic such as clindamycin or a sulfa prep or mask.  You could also see a good aesthetician that works with dermatologists for a light salicyclic acid peel for a quick clean-up.  Best of luck!

The two should NOT be taken together. I also question why you only took 20mg Accutane for 8 weeks. That's only a total cumulative dose of 1200mg which is far from an effective dose. I would suggest a visit with your dermatologist to go over everything and would not resume Doxy until speaking directly to your prescriber. With that being said, Accutane can remain in the body for weeks after stopping, so I highly recommend you consult with your dermatologist regarding when you can start doxycycline.
