I have taken 2 courses of accutane- both with 30mg for 2 months, then 60mg for 6 months. The second course was mainly to address oily skin, but it came back. I want to do 20mg weekly indefinitely for my oily skin. The only issue I had during both courses was hair thinning at 60mg daily towards the last 4 months. Is this a cumulative effect or a higher dose effect? If I do 20mg weekly for my oily skin, will I experience hair thinning? Please help!
I started accutane 4 months ago. I can only tolerate 10mg 5 days/week. If I take more then my hair starts to fall off like crazy. Even with 5x/week my hair is falling more then usual. After 4 months I still break out (not as bad and they clear up faster). Will it work in the end? Will it just take more time to stop my acne completly? Do you suggest en alternative dosing like 20mg 3x/week...could it be better?
I'm a 45 year old 75 KG male who was on Accutane last year. Started in March 2020 and got off in July 2020 per my dermatologists. Dose was 40mg month 1&2 then 60mg month 3&4. Only bad side effect was terrible dry eye. After checking the math I don't think I hit the Target Dose of 120mg. Fast forward 7 months later and my skin is breaking out again. Dermatologist wants me to go on round 2. I'm all for it. Given the time since my last course what cumulative dose do I need this time around?
I've been on dianette for acne for a very long time but due to my age my GP has said I've got less than a year left on it. I still get cystic acne but it's not too bad. Every time I've tried coming off it my skin has been terrible with cystic acne and I've had some bad scarring as a result. I think I'll have to give in and take accutane but as I've spend 1000s on treatments for my indented scars I really don't want to purge. Would a very low dose over a long period of time eliminate the risk?.
Ive been on accutane for 6 months. I took 20mg for 2 months and then 40mg for 4 months to finish the course. After a week of being off of accutane, my acne is coming back. When I approached my doctor about accutane the first time he had no idea how it worked whatsoever to the point where I was guiding him through the whole course and explaining to him how it works. I want to go on a second cycle and I really want someone to guide me through it. What should I tell my doctor?
Im on my third almost 4th month of accutane. I had mild acne for a few years before starting accutane. (Male 170 lbs)I started on 30 mg twice a day, went up to 40 mg twice a day, now am alternating between 80 mg and 90mg. Was seeing little results for a week or two, but now having bad breakouts. Ive been on prednisone twice. I dont know if this is normal... I am beginning to lose hope. Please help
The first 3 months I was taking 30mg once a day. This past month I am taking 20mg twice a day. I had pretty moderate acne. Since they upped my dosage to twice a day, I have had such awful side effects, even worse than when I first started. I even took time off work because my back pain was so bad. I am prescribed to take another 2 months. I even missed my window to pick up my medication so I have to start the whole process over again if I actually want to pick it up.
I have been taking Accutane twice a day for 3 months now (starting on my 4th month). I havent been taking my morning pill with food because I dont eat breakfast. However I always take my second pill right after dinner. I have not seen much results yet. If I start taking my first pill with a tablespoon of peanut butter or something high in fats, how long will it take for me to see results? Have I wasted taking it the last 3 months?
Male, 20, 121lbs, 5'11, . Been off accutane for around 2 weeks now and starting to get under-skin bumps around the hairline. Should I start taking accutane again? How long should the treatment last for me and is there a waiting time between short accutane courses or should I continue asap? Would a higher dosage be more suitable for me? Maybe moving on to 20mg?
